Classes Offered at the Center
Yoga for Bone Health
Our Yoga for Bone Health is focused on anatomy and proper alignment to improve your posture and balance, give you greater flexibility and range of motion, decrease stress and help counteract osteoporosis.
Loren Fishman, MD well known for his work in rehabilitative medicine and a 2015 study on the effects of yoga on osteoporosis, reminds us that a regular practice of yoga can "contribute to the ability to stay upright and not fall." Young or young at heart, join us in this class focused on growing a personal yoga practice that contributes to bone health and overall well-being.
Seated yoga, or on the floormat with assisting props if needed are all encouraged. Class size will remain small for individual assistance.
About the Teacher:
Jody Ference, MS, OTR-L, RYT-200 began practicing yoga over 15 years ago and has been influenced by many different teachers and styles of yoga. As an occupational therapist, she is particularly interested in applying yoga to enhance physical and functional well being, through a focus on anatomy, alignment, core strength, and flexibility. She finds particular joy in knowing that both yoga and occupational therapy connect the body, mind and spirit, enhancing one's ability to function in daily life. Jody is grateful and inspired by her teacher, Lauren Toolin, with whom she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training.
