SoftWave Tissue Regenerative Therapy
ESWT, or Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy is a non-surgical,
non-invasive treatment of soft tissue, bone, heel, and joint pain that uses
shock waves to stimulate cells and promote healing. SoftWave tissue regenerative therapy is an
alternative to surgery to treat musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions.
SoftWave Therapy is a treatment involving SoftWave Tissue Regeneration
Technology that applies short, frequent, and high intensity bursts of
mechanical energy (in the form of a shock wave) into soft tissue that is
injured, scarred, contains adhesions, is painful, or inflamed.
The Stram Center uses SoftWave’s OrthoGold device which is an advanced shock wave device using electrohydraulic spark gap technology with a patented parabolic reflector that produces an unfocused or parallel acoustic wave over a broad area resulting in accelerated healing.
The therapy that is provided by this SoftWave, TRT device has a wider and deeper therapeutic energy zone than other ESWT devices on the market. This results in greater healing as the energy is spread over a vastly larger and deeper area.
Conditions that can be treated with Softwave:
SoftWave therapy can successfully address acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries related to: knee, heel, foot, ankle, hamstring, back, pelvis, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. In addition, research has shown promising results in the area of sexual health, cosmetics and wound healing and has been shown to treat kidney stones.
This advanced technology helps our patients by successfully turning on the body’s natural healing process by increasing blood supply to the area, modulating inflammation, stimulating and activating stem cells, repairing and regenerating tissue, reducing acute and chronic pain.
FDA approval: SoftWaveTRT is FDA 510(k) cleared for: Activation of connective tissue, treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers and treatment of acute second-degree burns as well as pain reduction and Improved blood supply. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover.
Patient FAQ's:
1. Is the treatment new? No. IT is the standard of care for soft tissue injuries in Europe and has been a non-surgical option in the US for over 20 years. Surgeons do not typically recommend it for obvious reasons.

3. What is its intended use? It is an alternative to surgery to treat musculoskeoetal and soft tissue conditions.
4. Is it painful? There may be mild discomfort, but patients typically don't complain of treatment pain.
5. How long is the treatment? Typically a session is about 15 minutes.
6. How many treatments are recommended? Typically 6-8 spread out throughout about 6 weeks.
7. Are there any side effects? There ris no bruising or swelling. For some, redness and soreness can occur but it usually subsides in a day or two.
8. Can it be used in conjunction with other treatments? Yes, following your provider's recommendations is advised. Typically regenerative therapies such as PRP are recommended as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and soft tissue massage.
9. Are there any restrictions right after treatment? You should follow your provider's post treatment care which typically asks you to refrain from certain pain medications, or engage in any activities that would aggravate the treated area.
