Naturopathic Consultations Addressing Pain Management

WHAT TO EXPECT

Much like a general practitioner, a naturopathic doctor manages a broad range of health conditions affecting all people of all ages. Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care, distinguished by the healing principles upon which its practice is based.

Your initial visit with your naturopath is 90 minutes long, during which time an in depth review of your symptoms and history will occur. The extensive history reviewed includes all facets of the patient’s beliefs, symptoms and lifestyle are examined, which form the groundwork for developing an effective comprehensive treatment plan that will enhance your therapy regimen. The goal of a naturopathic doctor is to employ therapies that support and promote the body's natural healing process, leading to the highest state of wellness.

The naturopath’s role in Pain Management is to take on a more holistic approach to your pain. There are many natural herbs, enzymes, homeopathic remedies and nutrients that are naturally anti-inflammatory, and best of all, with no side effects. Our naturopathic physicians can help guide you to choose what modality of treatment is best for you. Like our medical practitioners, diet history and lab review are of importance in the naturopath’s investigation of the root cause of your pain. For instance, immune dysfunction due to chronic infections and/or food intolerances can contribute to a patient’s pain and would be considered in the naturopath’s thorough review.
