Join Amy, our very own registered nurse, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Healer II, for a 90 minute guided journey through the seven major energy centers (chakras) in the body using gentle yoga postures and breathing techniques. No experience necessary. Chakra music throughout the practice, with essential oils & Reiki during final relaxation. This class is designed to help us tune into this subtle energy system unblocking and recharging all seven major centers in the body. You will leave feeling relaxed, renewed & recharged.

If you are curious or have wanted to try yoga for enhanced health and well being, this beginner yoga class will gently guide you through common poses used in yoga classes
Motivated to incorporate yoga in treatments by observing some of her acupuncture patients, Rebecca sought training under the guise of Iyengar style teacher Eileen Muir. Join Rebecca Rice, L.Ac for this beginner yoga class. Learn basic poses and anatomical guidelines to help you sail through yoga classes!

With Eric Sharer's extensive culinary arts training together with his expertise in nutrition, he will provide one on one hands-on cooking instruction in a calm and casual learning environment at our Delmar location. Instruction will include include knife/culinary skills to make your time in the kitchen more efficient and enjoyable. Eric will teach you how to make quick and healthy recipes and cooking techniques to maximize the healing and disease fighting potential of your food, while minimizing the time and energy you spend in the kitchen. Reclaim your excitement about food and cooking!
Each class will last 60 to 75 minutes and all the food prepared will be yours to enjoy and take home. Please bring containers for the food and a reusable bag if possible. Eric will take care of the grocery shopping and work with you to plan an individualized meal based on your unique nutritional needs.
Initial Lesson: $225 plus the cost of groceries(estimated cost to be $30-$50 depending on the recipes)
Follow up Lesson: $200 plus the cost of groceries(estimated cost to be $30-$50 depending on the recipes)
The maximum number of participants is 3, unless discussed in advance with Eric. Bring your friend, or a family member!

2016 Reiki Certification Class Schedule:
Each class offered is a one day workshop. Each student will be given a course manual and a certificate of completion at the reiki level attended. Classes limited to 8 students.
Choose a date convenient for you; if these dates are not convenient, please be sure to check our calendar for future classes during the year.
Reiki I : Saturday, April 30th, 2016; 10am-2pm;
Reiki II : Saturday, February 20, 2016; 11-3pm; Saturday, June 11, 2016; 10am-2pm

Every Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm, the Center will offer free guided meditation sessions. The free meditation sessions are available at The Center to practice and experience the deep state of meditation. These sessions serve as an introduction for beginners as well as a practice for experienced individuals in the cultivation of clarity and mindfulness.
Guided Meditation sessions are led by Jim Whiting, the Center's certified Kripalu Yoga teacher and Michelle Carpenter (see Michelle's brief bio. below.)

Michelle is a lifelong resident of the Albany area and an enthusiastic member of the local yoga community who has been practicing since 1988. She is an adept yoga practitioner with experience in various styles of yoga and meditation techniques including Jivamukti, Bikrim, Kundalini, and Kripalu. Michelle has studied with renowned teachers Mukunda Stiles, Nishcela Joy Devi, Ray Crist and Sudha/Caroline Lundeen. Michelle is currently leading and assisting with teaching Shitali Karana and Mantra meditation at the Stram Center for Integrative Medicine. Jim is honored to have her as an assistant.
Body Mind Spirit Yoga Classes begin with mindful centering through guided breathing exercises and meditation. Seated stretches provide a gentle but thorough warm-up readying students for a natural flow of poses. Classes include a well-rounded variety of yoga postures: standing, seated, kneeling, twists, backbends, supine and inversions. Students are encouraged to listen to and respect the wisdom of their own body. Appropriate modifications and extensions are offered to ensure your personal experience is both safe and challenging. Gentle Yoga ~ A kind and gentle gift to yourself, good for beginners and those coming back to yoga after a long break or after an injury. This warm and supportive class moves at a comfortable pace allowing time to fully enjoy each pose
FEES: Thursday: $15 drop in; $40/3 week session; $72/6 week session

About the Instructor: Jim Whiting is a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor. A lifetime resident of the Albany area, Jim studied Yoga at the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts, meditation and Yoga philosophy at the American Meditation Institute in Averill Park, NY and the psychology of the Bhagavad Gita at the Hindu Temple in Loudonville, NY. Jim has been a practitioner of Yoga, Meditation and Yoga philosophy since 1996. The Center is honored to have Jim teach yoga.
