Integrative Cancer Care

KNOW ALL YOUR OPTIONS

A cancer diagnosis is stressful, frightening and overwhelming. Making decisions about treatment during this phase is challenging. Conventional oncologists usually recommend only conventional treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, but you may be left wondering, "is there something else that can benefit me?"

Your cancer consultation at the Stram Center will provide you with all your options to help you through the process of making these difficult decisions. If conventional therapy is the right course of treatment, we will inform you.  We will also give you insight into other integrative options that can be beneficial both as an adjunct treatment to reduce side effects and as a standalone therapy to combat cancer.

Management of the Cancer Patient at the Stram Center, Delmar, NY and Burlington, Vt offices

Treatment plans are developed for the cancer patient with the goal of enhancing conventional cancer therapies (chemotherapy and radiation)  and  supporting cancer cell death while protecting the health of normal cells and include:

  • Review of caloric and diet history;
  • Establishing individualized nutrition assessment;
  • Dietary plans to optimize energy levels and maintain lean body mass

Supplementation Therapies Including  High Dose IV Vitamin C, IV Artemesinin, other vitamins, IV Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), Herbs and Botanicals to:

  • stimulate and increase immune system function
  • encourage cellular repair and regeneration
  • accelerate the process of recovery
  • provide preventative immune support
  • inhibit disease progression
  • enhance treatment efficacy
  • bolster cancer-fighting capacity
  • reduce side effects of conventional treatment

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Cancer:
Cancer thrives in hypoxic (low levels of oxygen) environments and hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to increase these oxygen levels to weaken tumors and reduce their aggressiveness.

Enhance "conventional" cancer therapies and treatments and reduce side effects with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)

  • better radiation therapy results
  • improves chemotherapy outcomes
  • reduces radiation therapy side effects
  • decreases chemotherapy side effects
  • accelerates post-operative healing and prevents infection

Enhance IV Cancer treatments with hyperbaric oxygen Therapy

  • increases intravenous vitamin c therapy effects
  • enhances chemotherapy uptake
  • Reduce Tumor aggressiveness
  • Increase natural killer cell activity and function with hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Cancer prevention with hyperbaric oxygen therapy:

  • decreases inflammatory markers
  • normalizes intracellular oxgyen levels
  • stimulates cellular detoxifcation
  • reduces risk of pathogenic inflammatory-related tumors
  • supports cellular energy processes for optimal DNA repair

Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition is an essential piece of an optimal health plan for anyone battling cancer, or looking to prevent cancer. Current research estimates that between 35% to 60% of cancer cases can be linked back to dietary factors alone. This is more than tobacco, air/water pollution, alcohol, radiation, and medications combined.

We  can develop an individualized plan to help minimize treatment side effects, while maximizing the benefits of the treatment. We can develop a nutrition and supplement plan to boost/support the immune system, fight the cancer at the cellular level, and change the very environment that may be fueling the cancer.

Integrative Treatment Options

IV Vitamin C Therapy for Cancer

There is much research regarding the use of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in cancer therapy. However, most of the research focuses on oral rather than the more effective intravenous (IV) route of administration. IV vitamin C has a significantly greater effect on immune enhancement than the conventional oral route of administration.
