My interest in holistic healing began at an early age when I was exposed to ayurvedic herbs and homeopathy during travels to India with my family. Growing up in the windy city of Chicago, I dealt with severe allergies as a child and young adult and found relief by using herbs and homeopathy, learning early on about the role of stress and emotions in affecting health.

While obtaining Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I participated in interdisciplinary research to improve hearing aids and published my research as a first author in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America. During that time, participating in yoga classes nourished me physically and spiritually. Subsequently, I decided to attend naturopathic medical school at Bastyr University in Washington state, where I received extensive training in homeopathy, herbs, nutrition, hydrotherapy, biotherapeutic drainage, flower essences, gemmotherapy, and craniosacral therapy. As part of my training, I visited several herbal farms in Washington state and Oregon state and was moved in witnessing the dedication and quality control that herbal farmers embodied in cultivating herbs from seed to mature plant to offer high-quality herbal products. I also pursued training in applied kinesiology or muscle-testing with Louisa Williams, ND and Amy Derksen, ND since applied kinesiology can be a useful tool for individualizing patient care. I trained in a unique method of using muscle-testing with homeopathy from a group of homeopaths in New Zealand. I also trained with Bradley Nelson, DC to learn the energy healing technique Emotion Code, which uses muscle-testing to identify and release trapped emotions to support health. Research has shown that mindfulness meditation, the practice of connecting to the present moment, has many benefits on health. Meditation is a regular part of my life and helps me stay centered and grounded.

I believe that health is an active process maintained through cultivating awareness, intention, lifestyle choices and therapies that support the body’s innate ability to heal itself. If illness arises, its underlying cause is unique for each person and requires thorough assessment and individualized treatment. The whole person must be considered, including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, to facilitate healing. I hope to empower patients with understanding and tools to prevent disease and support health.
