Ronald Stram M.D.

Founder, Board Certified Medical Doctor

My 25 years of work as a board certified emergency medicine physician had prompted me to recognize the need for holistic and preventative care as a means to reduce the debilitation associated with chronic disease so often seen too late in the emergency setting.

I felt a strong connection to my original motives for becoming a doctor and decided to expand my career  in a new direction by seeking out the Integrative Medicine fellowship program at the University of Arizona with Dr. Andrew Weil in 2001.  After successfully completing my two year fellowship training, I felt committed to providing this form of medicine to my own hometown. This inspired me to establish the Stram Center for Integrative Medicine in 2003.

The Stram Center’s collaboration between conventionally trained medical doctors with complementary providers is anchored by the respect for the wisdom and science across shared disciplines. More minds working as a team has proved to be more effective in addressing the needs of our patients. Our integrative approach continues to reinforce my belief that when a medical environment focuses on the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of individuals with chronic health conditions and their support network, healing can occur. It is my experience that this is the kind of healthcare people are seeking. Every day at the office, I feel privileged to work with my colleagues who share this philosophy of healthcare.

Danielle Stram, M.S. Ed, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

I am a licensed mental health counselor who offers a warm, empathetic, judgement-free, and safe space for individuals to explore their bodies, deeper selves, work through life’s challenges, and to create more meaning to their lives. I am devoted to working collaboratively with you, to uncover more of who you are and what you strive to be.

My approach to therapy is rooted in anti-oppression and decolonization. I utilize concepts and techniques from psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, IFS, and Mindfulness. My experience has been working with individuals and couples ranging from teens to late 70s who are suffering from chronic illness, depression, anxiety, and trauma-related issues. With my experience working in the complex mental health care system in NYC, I saw first-hand the connections our minds play in our physical health. I can help facilitate the exploration and usage of healthy mental health coping strategies whilst bearing and greiving the weight of chronic illness.

I am passionate about building a trusting and supportive relationship with my clients. I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is the most important element in this process. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to connect with people and to help them find their inner strength and wisdom. I aim to support you in living freely and authentically; to access more love towards yourself and others. By challenging yourself in therapy, it can help bring you closer to obstacles you felt you could never overcome, but more importantly, therapy can help bring you closer to yourself and your needs, mind, body and soul. I hope to join you on this beautiful journey.

Janna Neitzel, MS, RD, CDN

Masters of Science, Registered Dietitian, Certified Dietitian Nutritionist

Always having interest in the medical field and planning to go into nursing, I was first drawn to nutrition as a young athlete. My love of running and nutrition have always gone hand in hand and when I first started long distance running competitively in middle school I became enthralled with the performance enhancement of quality nutrition provides. The more I looked into nutrition research the more I became amazed at how vital it is in every aspect of life and health—from cancer prevention and treatment to feeling your best in your own skin; your “life vessel.”

I’ve been incredibly blessed to have known what I wanted to study and be from an early age, first completing my BS in from RIT, then my MS at Sage Graduate School; both in nutrition. The graduate work and experience really highlighted my passion of individualized nutrition counseling, working with people on a personal level and finding together what best suits their needs.

I’m incredibly humbled and excited to be joining the Stram team and to be a part of the healing journey for each individual. With an extensive background I hope to facilitate the best care for each person, using nutrition therapies to compliment other wellness and treatment protocol. With a sweet spot for gastrointestinal or gut health, I believe everything starts in the gut and strengthening or repairing this vital and intricate system is a key component.

Having worked in community nutrition, food service management and as a college campus dietitian, I’m very comfortable presenting and sharing nutrition science in an accessible way to incorporate small (and not-so-small) changes for powerful impact. Change is hard for most of us but having someone on your team to problem solve, encourage, and equip you with the tools needed to feel better makes all the difference. For this reason I also enjoy teaching basic cooking skills to those I work with so they’re able to nourish their bodies and minds with the highest quality ingredients as an act of self love and care.

Some areas I specialize in include food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities, eating disorders and disordered eating, disease prevention and treatment (including Lyme, diabetes, and heart disease, to name a few), gastrointestinal complications, weight loss and healthy weight management, stress management and sports nutrition for performance.

While nutrition is a main focus in my treatment approach, I also take inventory of one’s core needs and how their being met. These include sleep, connection, nature, rest and relaxation, joy, passion and meaning, and movement/exercise.

I continue to explore avenues that will expand my knowledge of medical nutrition therapy as treatment and prevention in addition to staying informed on relevant research topics in health promotion and disease prevention. As a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a board member of the Hudson Valley Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, I enjoy connecting with other dietitians and medical professionals, furthering our collective knowledge and enhancing our skillsets as clinicians. As I learn your story I look forward to piecing together the best path toward healing and taking that journey with you.

Physician Associate Certified

Providing compassionate and patient-centered care to improve quality of life has been my mission as a Physician Associate over the past 13 years. My experience in Emergency Medicine and home-based care settings has given me a perspective of how complex and overwhelming chronic illness can be. I have found the importance of seeing a person as a whole, and how each part of a person’s life, whether social, emotional, physical, or spiritual, can contribute to a patient’s wellbeing. I am excited for the opportunity to share my passion for holistic care with the patients at the Stram Center

By maintaining longitudinal and comprehensive connections with my patients, I will be able to better learn who they are and how best to help them. My patients are a partner in their own care and have the space to be heard and valued. My goal is to provide an opportunity for patients to approach their health in a new way, and to learn more about their disease as well as themselves.

In order to promote the best wellbeing to my patients, I understand the importance of having a healthy lifestyle for myself. I practice yoga regularly and appreciate the mind-body connection in meditation. My interests include music, reading, art, travel, food, and nature. Most importantly, I value the time I get to spend with my family - my husband, son, our Golden Retriever and 2 cats.

I am excited to utilize Integrative Medicine, and translate my experience and knowledge to this model of care. I look forward to the opportunity to guide the patients at the Stram Center on their healing journey.

Since 2007, I’ve had the privilege of working with patients at the Stram Center facing a wide range of health challenges, and I continue to be inspired every day by their resilience and commitment to healing.

I serve as the Medical Director at the Stram Center for Integrative Medicine in South Burlington, Vermont, and also practice at our Delmar, New York location. I use a comprehensive approach that includes functional and specialized testing, natural therapies such as herbal medicine, IV nutrient therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help patients find answers and lasting improvement.

I began my academic path with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona, and later completed a four-year naturopathic medical program at Sonoran University of Health Sciences. My goal is always to support the body’s innate healing ability and to empower individuals to take an active role in their health.

Rebecca Rice, DACM; Doctor of Acupuncture &Chinese Medicine, L.Ac

Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine; Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist

My interest in Chinese Medicine began as a teenager while considering Allopathic Medicine as a career. During this time my fascination in reading philosophical works from different cultures was blooming. Along with a deep interest in herbal medicine, these holistic and natural views on life and health are what inspired me to pursue the study of Chinese Medicine.

In 2002 I earned a Master’s of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University where I was also introduced to Five Element Acupuncture. In 2004 I completed a 2 year post graduate course in Five Element Acupuncture. This study largely influenced the way I practice, including formalizing diagnosis based on the evaluation of pulses and synthesizing disease and health from the point of view of a deeply rich and vast traditional form of medicine.

My practice is devoted to encouraging health and supporting the well being of my patients using acupuncture, herbs, qi gong, reiki and yoga. I have been practicing at the Stram Center for Integrative Medicine since its inception in 2003.

I am experienced in treating pain, digestive disorders, symptoms of lyme disease, allergies, asthma, stress, anxiety, depression, headaches, and supporting the cancer patient.

My field of expertise is in the treatment and support of infertility and women’s health including irregular menstruation, hormonal imbalance, cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, PMS, menopause, and painful menstruation.

Stephanie Sherman PA-C

Physician Associate, Certified

I am a board-certified Physician Associate with over ten years of clinical experience. I started my career in neurosurgery, which gave me a deep appreciation for the complexity of the human body and the impact of chronic pain, neurological conditions and injury on people's lives. That experience strengthened my diagnostic skills and my commitment to helping patients feel heard, supported and understood.

I earned my Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies from Albany Medical College and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Manhattan College. My background in psychology continues to shape how I approach care, recognizing the powerful connection between mental, emotional and physical health.

Wanting to focus on addressing the root causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms, I completed advanced training through the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) program with the Institute for Functional Medicine. This training helps me look at how genetics, lifestyle, environment, and nutrition all interact to affect health.
My approach to care is about looking at the whole person--physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual and environmental influences all matter. I l believe the best outcomes happen when conventional and complementary providers collaborate, respecting the science and wisdom each brings. Together, this integrative approach creates the strongest foundation for real, lasting healing. For all these reasons, I am glad to be part of the Stram Center team which holds these approaches to medical care in the highest regard.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and our four children. Our family life is full of shared adventures--traveling, outdoor activities with friends, skiing in the winter, swimming in the ocean during the summer and tending our garden at home. I believe these connections, time in nature, and moments of joy are just as important for health as any medical intervention.

Subsequently, I completed a year residency at Seattle Integrative Oncology, where I gained advanced experience in supportive and integrative cancer care.
