I gravitated toward healthcare at a very young age.

My career began as a direct care residential counselor for adults with developmental disabilities which transitioned into that of a certified occupational therapy assistant within acute and subacute medical settings. In this role of 15 years I gained medical experience with various diagnoses while assisting my patients, both adults and pediatrics, on the road of rehabilitation and optimal independence in the activities that meant the most to them. There was still an inner desire to pursue a level of independence in my career that would allow me to provide continued therapeutic services not just for symptom relief and disease management, but getting to the core of the concern, especially for those presenting with continued challenges when progress was no longer being made under the traditional rehabilitation model. I believe, on our journey in life, there is always the opportunity for physical improvement, both body and mind. Helping others become aware of this connection and idea, I began my private practice as a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2010. With a passion for continuing education, I obtained my National Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworker and further specialized my practice, providing techniques such as Craniosacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, Manual Lymph Drainage, and Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration.

The cumulative experience in healthcare the past 20 years adds to a foundation of knowledge and compassion to meet each individual where they are at, assess the best means to improve their quality of life through bodywork, and educate the client as much as they desire regarding techniques I incorporate during the sessions and the anatomy of their body. The client and therapist connection is much like that within a team: together we can access a greater depth of healing and rejuvenation to areas of concern one layer at a time, often finding the root of dis-ease causing presenting symptoms. Personally, I was put in a place medically where I needed to rely on these specialized treatment techniques to heal and return to an improved version of myself after a Lyme disease diagnosis and then followed by a motor vehicle accident where physically I faced additional challenges. This time of recovery helped refine my knowledge of the intuitive process during healing, experiencing firsthand the many phases, frustrations, setbacks and ultimately, achievements and gains that one may go through when choosing the path of health during challenging times. The collaborative environment among practitioners provided at the Stram Center is one that further enhances the team approach, promoting optimal wellness for each individual it serves.

I continually observe the benefits of massage and the power of touch among the many clients I’m honored to cross paths with on a daily basis, whether an overall healthy adult, an expecting mother, a child with learning delays or a sensory processing disorder, a young adult with Huntington’s Disease, a warrior recovering from PTSD/trauma (physical or emotional), a hero battling cancer and possibly one facing lymphedema, a strong individual faced with the multiple challenges presented with Lyme disease, a beloved community member actively passing in hospice care, or a premature infant beginning their journey of life with hurdles before them. The individualized care each client receives will surely add to their journey toward optimal wellness.
